Tutor Safety Guide
Our Tutors Safety is our Priority
Here at Tutors SA we take the safety and wellbeing of our students and Tutors seriously. We take every precaution we can to ensure that your tutoring experience with us is both welcoming and professional.
What We Do
In order to protect our clients, we put each tutor through a thorough vetting process before approving them as part of the Tutors SA Team.
Each applicant has to supply us with valid contact details, physical address, education history, and their relevant experience.
Only after reviewing each applicant’s documents (Identity, School leaving certificates and/or University Transcript) and Police clearance do we accept the Tutor’s application
To protect our tutors, we do our best to ensure our clients are legit.
We require all our clients to pay upfront in order to ensure all tutoring sessions are genuine.
All clients who request in person tutoring are required to give us their physical address.
We specifically hand-pick each tutor we assign to a job.
At Tutors SA we review our pre-approved tutors for each job, selecting the ones we believe will be the best match (based on gender, age, location, education, common interests, etc.)
We will always try to match tutors with clients who live within a 15km radius from their homes.
If you are a female tutor tutoring a male adult (over 18) we will contact you in advance and explain the situation fully before asking you if you would like to accept the job. If you decide to accept the job we strongly advise you to notify your next of kin as to the lesson time and whereabouts of each lesson. This is, however, your responsibility to do so.
Maintaining strict quality, and information regulations
Your contact details are only shared with the client once you’ve accepted the job.
After the first lesson, we will follow up with both you and the client to ensure that everyone was happy with the lesson.
If a client is unhappy with a tutor, or vice versa, we will assign them a new tutor within 48 hours.
What you can do
Understand the risks involved
There will always be an element of risk involved in private tutoring. Although we try everything within our power to mitigate any risks, it’s important to still be aware their possibility and actively take the necessary precautions to protect yourself.
Some of the risks involved may include:
- Traveling to or through unsafe areas
- Damage to musical instruments
- Stalking or inappropriate messaging
- Scam clients with sinister intentions
- Theft
- Sexual harassment
- Other serious crimes
Each applicant has to supply us with valid contact details, physical address, education history, and their relevant experience.
Only after reviewing each applicant’s documents (Identity, School leaving certificates and/or University Transcript) and Police clearance do we accept the Tutor’s application
Be vigilant
All tutors should always inform their next of kin of their whereabouts and their expected time of return.
Be Proactive
If you ever feel uncomfortable about any aspect of your tutoring assignment contact your Tutor Zone Manager immediately and/or take any additional steps you deem necessary, which might include contacting the authorities, such as the South African Police Service (SAPS), or a next of kin.

Ian
What a fantastic, professional and enthusiastic Tutoring Company to deal with. Rüth and her Team of Tutors are by far the best I had the pleasure of dealing with. Rüth, reacts in a second in dealing with requests, and her Team of Tutors are friendly, knowledgeable, engaging with skills in abundance, to coax even the most timid of Students out of their shells to actively participate in Tutoring sessions. I can, without a doubt in my mind recommend Tutors SA, to anybody seeking the help of individual, personal Tutors for their kids, assisting them on their journey to academic excellence!
